Protoweb is a free public service that hosts historical Internet websites to demonstrate the Internet in it’s [sic] early days. It is also a community driven project consisting of volunteers with the goal of rebuilding and restoring early Internet services to offer a seamless browsing experience. Our service hosts countless web sites with downloads, games and other resources fully working. Content is being curated and added daily.

In which I build WindEmu, an emulator for the Psion Series 5mx (a PDA from 1999 running EPOC - the OS that would become Symbian), over the course of just over a week, without access to the actual hardware. Yet another cursed project.
This series of posts is about the Commodore Amiga. Thousands of words have already been written on the Amiga, and I will not add anything but "milestone" to the adjectives used to describe it. This post and the following ones are not intended to be a complete and well-organised review of the architecture. Instead, they will be more a set of "lab notes" for myself that I write while I explore the platform. I put them on the blog in the hope that they will be useful for other programmers that try to crack the same problems.
So yeah: if you’re into making hard strategic decisions, and aren’t put off by having to learn a huge array of acronyms and nuclear weapon names, Bravo Romeo Delta has a lot to offer, even if it is all wrapped up in one of the most impenetrable interfaces I’ve ever encountered. Playing it a few times will give you a new appreciation for how absurd the whole idea of “limited nuclear war” really was — how hard it would have been to stop such a war, once started, from snowballing into the end of the world. Which will make you thankful that nobody ever had to try.

There's no reason you would ever need to rig up an NES to run Netflix. Which is why it's so great that these two delightfully insane Netflix engineers did it for us. Because at long last, we can finally see the House of Cards intro in all the horrific, 8-bit glory absolutely no one ever intended.
And now we’ve come to the 70’s.
There is just something cool about the movies made during that time and the post-apocalypse genre was really coming into it’s own.
We were now moving a bit away from the standard Atom Bomb and the Mutated Monster and beginning to portray a society that had devolved into barbarism and ruin.
The movies started becoming more violent and edgy and having either a sole individual or a group of people fighting for their life.
Some of the movies retained a simpleness of the 50’s and 60’s, while others (like Zardoz and Wizards) got “a little out there”.

Painted letters from 1882, found while browsing Patricia's uploaded ephemera on Flickr. I digitised Monstre to use across titles, logos, layouts and animations. Designers can manipulate five layers of lighting and shading to achieve the right look. Monstre retains original slight imperfections so as not to completely erase the feeling of the human touch when it was first coloured and shaded in 1882. Download the font, share it with friends, and email me if you use it in one of your projects. I'd love to see what you can do with it.
